Great news! Have a look. There are 11 short video clips of Elizabeth and me talking about different aspects of meditation. I think they’ve worked really well.
I hope you enjoy them. And, if you have friends who would like to know some of what we teach on meditation (in the Awakening Network), they can get a glipse of it there.
In the near future, I’ll put direct links into this blog so you can go directly from here to the video clips. Meanwhile, go to www.youtube.com and do a search for TheAwakeningNetwork.
We’ve been trying to get a presence on YouTube for a couple of years. Now we have. Some things take time. Thanks to everyone who has helped with the project.
I have been very moved by the many people who have written since the award to tell me how much they have valued reading Urban Mystic. This is wonderful news and and I thank you all for letting me know. One of my prime motivations in sharing my story was that it might stimulate others into greater understanding of themselves, increase their resolve to keep going in the face of challenge, and discover that true awakening is already available within ourselves and our lives if we are prepared to face fully what is there so we can expand with the direct experience of whatever that is.
True self, the Infinite, trascendent Love are all ‘closer … than breathing, and nearer than hands and feet’, as Alfred Lord Tennyson once wrote. All we need to do is to stop in silence and immerse ourselves in the presence.
Ken was notified recently that he is amongst Strategic Book Publishing’s Top 50 authors. SBP is the American Publisher of the book and is about to run a new advertising campaign now the book is an award winner. Things are going well.
Hi Everyone, I have just heard Urban Mystic has received an international award. It was judged a Finalist in the Spirituality Category of the 2010 Next Generation Indie Book Awards. This is an international competition with many entries.
In the Spirituality Category, two books were judged winners and three were judged finalists. It’s a great honour and very affirming of the quality of the book.
I’ve done some more on the Urban Mystic Book Website. Have a look at the front page to see the changes. I really like the way the site is developing. We are getting a lot of visitors, too.
In particular have a look at the description on the front page and read the excerpt that is now available by clicking on the Read an Excerpt button.
This is a wonderful video clip of Thakur talking to us as he did on almost every night we were in Kolkata with him on many visits. We were a mixed group of Australians and New Zealanders. His loving informality and attention to each of us all individually were always a feature, and wonderfully awakening. You will see Swami Krishna, another Master who was influential in Ken’s and Elizabeth’s awakening, sitting down near the front in the early part of the clip.
Thakur – Shree Shree Thakur Balak Brahmachari to give his full title and name – was very significant in Ken’s and Elizabeth’s awakening processes. He, Elizabeth and groups of people ranging from 20 to 50 visited every year from 1982 to the early 1990s. He had a radiant presence and simply being with him touched us deeply and catalysed our awakening.
Welcome to my Urban Mystic webpage blog, not that there’s much here yet. In fact, the site is so underdeveloped right now that I hesitated about getting started with blogging you. Then I thought it’s a good idea because your involvement will encourage me to fill in the other areas. So I decided I could make a start by telling you some of what I intend to put in here.
I’ll give you a much better description of the book. From the feedback I’ve already had, it’s compelling reading, even for people who don’t know me.
You’ll be able to see and download the introduction.
A link will appear so you can buy the book directly from this site, and
I’ll put in some of the reviews I’ve got. I guess you realise I’ll favour the ones that favour the book!
Well, that’s it for now. Let me know what you think about this small beginning. Ken
